Heat shock cognate 71 kDa protein
Heat shock cognate 71 kDa protein (HSC70/HSPA8) is a constitutively expressed member of the HSP70 chaperone family that maintains protein folding, mediates chaperone-assisted autophagy, and stabilises the proteome under mechanical and metabolic stress. Its salivary appearance reflects the cellular stress-response load imposed by training. Wenzel et al. (2026) identified HSC70 among the salivary proteins that reliably distinguish recent exercise in a multi-omics strain model.
