N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanine amidase

N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanine amidase (PGLYRP2) is a peptidoglycan-hydrolysing amidase of the innate immune system that cleaves bacterial cell-wall peptidoglycan, contributing to antimicrobial defence at mucosal surfaces. Its salivary level reflects oral innate-immune activity, an interface modulated by training-related changes in mucosal immunity. Lindsey et al. identified this amidase among the salivary proteins differentiating states of acute physical fatigue.
