Stomatin-like protein 2, mitochondrial
Stomatin-like protein 2 (SLP-2/STOML2) is an inner-mitochondrial-membrane scaffolding protein that organises cardiolipin-enriched microdomains, supports respiratory-chain assembly, and regulates mitochondrial biogenesis and stress responses. Its salivary appearance reflects mitochondrial turnover and cellular metabolic stress associated with physical exertion. Lindsey et al. identified SLP-2 among the salivary proteins differentiating states of acute physical fatigue.
